Position Summary:

AGC is seeking a Tempering Technician who is responsible for performing a variety of duties including loading, unloading, packing, and inspecting glass at various stages in the tempering process. Ensure that all glass meets logo placement and quality specifications. Work in a safe manner at all times.


  • Load the lites of glass to the line and sand all edges while inspecting for quality.
  • Operate washer and logo printer.
  • Perform maintenance on seamer and logo machine.
  • Set up cases and racks for upcoming schedules.
  • Assist line driver.
  • Glass handling and packing according to daily schedule.
  • Discard any bad lites.
  • Inspect glass for defects and verify dimensions for size changes.
  • Watch for proper logo placement on every lite.
  • Verify that glass meets quality standards before going to the packer.
  • Close racks and cases according to company specifications.
  • Set furnace temperature for the thickness and dimensions of glass.
  • Adjust the air flow to the quench to control the break on the glass and bow.
  • Conduct quality checks for standards and malfunctions of the furnace.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Hourly wage starts at $16.81/hour, plus shift differential. Ability to move to progressively higher pay as required skill blocks are attained.

  • On-the-job training provided
  • Prefer previous experience on swing shift
  • Prefer previous manufacturing experience


  • High school or equivalent (GED) required.


  • Must be able to work a rotating 12 hour swing shift (7 am - 7 pm / 7 pm - 7am).
  • Benefits to the swing shift include:
  • Associates regular schedule includes 3 to 4 days off work
  • Associates are off work during business hours during the work week to tend to personal business/attend school functions, etc.
  • Associates are scheduled to be off work for three day weekends every other week.
  • Rotating shift (working 36 hours one week and 48 the next week) builds in scheduled 10% overtime.
  • Must be able to work required overtime.
