Pay, Education & Experience:
  • Starting pay is $21.00 per hour, actual pay depends on experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate degree in business administration or related field is preferred
  • Two years of similar or related experience is required; three years of related experience and experience with Tyler Technologies software products is preferred

Brief Description of Duties:
Under the supervision of the Finance Director, the Accounting Clerk AP is a non-exempt position under FLSA.  This position is responsible for the functions of the city's accounts payable, and accounts receivable including data entry, payment issuance, issuance of invoices, revenue tracking and 1099  processing. The Accounting Clerk AP should possess key competencies including effective organization, prioritization, attention to detail, problem solving, confidentiality and communication skills. The employee must work independently and be self-directed. 
  • Sort, code and match invoices as well as review and verify invoices and check requests;
  • Maintain vendor, customer  files and records with accurate information;
  • Enter and upload invoices into accounting system, prepare and process electronic transfers and perform check runs; 
  • Facilitate, input, and track purchase orders for all City departments
  • Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records, reconcile transactions related to accounts payable, and  accounts receivable , prepare analysis of accounts, research and resolve discrepancies;
  • Respond to inquiries from vendor and staff members as well as initiate collection efforts by providing concise and accurate information in a professional manner;
  • Review accounts receivable aging reports to ensure payment compliance and review monthly vendor statements for outstanding invoices;
  • Perform year end reporting for vendors and employees including processing and distribution of 1099’s ;
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits;
  • Follows city policies and procedures in processing of transactions related to accounting processes including, but not limited to, accounts payable, and accounts receivable;
  • Follows city policies and procedures in handling all customer or vendor disputes, inquiries and requests for information;
  • Performs related tasks as required
